The latest Wowza Streaming Engine 4.10.0 update is officially live! This release delivers enhanced performance and optimization across core streaming components, improved reliability for video transcoding workflows, and modernized security patches. Developers will also enjoy an upgraded experience with the public REST API documentation and the general availability of the MainConcept Easy Video API (EVA).

Key Improvements & Performance Optimizations

  • MainConcept Easy Video API (EVA): Officially moved out of beta and is now available for General Availability (GA).

  • Enhanced Transcoding: Improved stability and performance for transcoder overlays, alongside better reliability for transcoder session starts.

  • High-Resolution Streaming: Wowza Streaming Engine can now seamlessly handle higher-resolution and higher-complexity input frames.

  • Stream Target & Origin Optimization: Optimized stream target implementations as well as live and VOD HTTP-origin applications.

  • Variable Bitrate (VBR) Support: Improved transcoder functionality with VBR source-streams.

  • Protocol Enhancements: Added the <SRTListener> block to enhance secure

  • Developer API: Public-facing REST API documentation is now fully available to streamline your development workflow.

Deprecations & Removed Packetizers

To streamline the media server software, the following deprecated legacy playback features and packetizers have been permanently removed in version 4.10.0:

  • Adobe HDS Packetizer: sanjosestreamingpacketizer

  • Microsoft Smooth Streaming Packetizer: smoothstreamingpacketizer

  • Deprecated Smooth Streaming Properties:

    • smoothCacheControlPlaylist

    • smoothCacheControlMediaChunk

    • smoothCacheControlDataChunk

    • smoothStreamingEncryptionRandomIV

Bug Fixes & OS Compatibility

  • Linux Ingest Fix: Resolved a critical WSE transcoder failure during ingest initialization (Cannot enable executable stack error) affecting modern Linux distributions including Ubuntu 25.04+, Debian 13, Fedora, and Arch Linux.

  • Cloud Templates: Updated the default Application.xml template for live and VOD applications deployed specifically within AWS cloud images.

  • RTSPS Playback: Fixed intermittent TLS errors during RTSPS playback that previously impacted customers utilizing secure RTSP pull workflows.

Critical Security Patches & CVE Fixes

This release includes important security updates to safeguard your streaming server environment against vulnerabilities:

  • Resolved CVE-2026-24734 affecting Apache Tomcat.
  • Resolved CVE-2026-29145 by updating Apache Tomcat to version 10.1.53.
  • Resolved CVE-2025-68161 related to log4j version.
  • Resolved CVE-2026-22732 (updated Spring Security Core 6.5.9 and Spring 6.2.17)
  • Resolved CVE-2025-2223 security vulnerability.
  • Updated OpenSSL to 3.5.5 on Windows Wowza Streaming Engine installation.
