Perpetual license communication through enterprise proxy to Wowza license servers

Support,

Can you please assist in getting our four servers to connect to the Licensing servers.

I have run through all trouble shooting on each of the following forum pages:

https://www.wowza.com/docs/troubleshoot-wowza-streaming-engine-licensing-errors-at-startup

Cannot get a ping response or telnet connect prompt

https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-configure-wowza-media-server-to-use-proxy-server-to-communicate-with-license-server- How-to-configure-Wowza-Server-to-use-proxy-server-to-communicate-with-license-server

I input our proxy config in the file and tired both a No-Auth and Auth configuration

We have approved communication for the following locations through our proxy, but I am still getting the error in the log file.

wowzalicense1.wowzamedia.com 207.20.250.61

wowzalicense2.wowzamedia.com 91.142.245.115

wowzalicense3.wowzamedia.com 66.135.41.15

wowzalicense4.wowzamedia.com 72.232.183.98

Error in the Error.log:

Please validate that your machine is able to send HTTP data over TCP port 80 to the Internet. Open Questions:

  1. Is there something you will have to do on your side to authorize our servers to communicate? Will you need our IP’s to add to a white list?

  2. Is the response a separate transaction initiated by the vendor or a simple response to your outbound connection?

  3. Can I designate/purchase a perpetual license that doesn’t require communication to the Wowza License Servers?

Did you try adding the inbound rule, as mentioned in your other posts?

  1. No, nothing like that is required on the Wowza side.

  2. I think it is just a response, but you will probably have to add the inbound rule

  3. I would continue trying to make the proxy work, try adding the inbound rule.

Richard

You had asked if an inbound rule is also necessary in your other post today, right? I am supposing that you will have to do that. In any case, that is what I would try. I believe that is necessary.

I am in need for a solution which doesn’t require internet connection. Is such a licensing scheme possible?

Please reply ASAP.

Hi,

Information regarding the purchase of license keys which don’t require an internet connection is available by sending email to sales@wowza.com

Best regards,

This issue was resolved in ticket #68215.

The problem was a proxy configuration on the user side. It is important that the correct IP address of the proxy server is listed in the proxy configuration as described in this article: How to configure Wowza Media Server to use proxy server to communicate with license server. In this case, the user had prepended the proxy setting with an “http:” and was providing an incorrect, internal proxy setup URL. Once the correct proxy IP address and configuration were validated on their side, the issue was resolved.

I missed the inbound rule, what post was that in? Can you send me the link or information required for the inbound rule?
