Genetec Omnicast

Is there anyway to serve video to be re-broadcasted through another video server from Wowza? A large part of the organizations video infrastructure uses Genetec and it’s players.

The video needs high availability through multiple sources, the Omnicast server being one of them. Is there a way to configure the server to fetch a video stream from the Wowza server?

You can re-stream from an IP camera, and possibly from omnicast server over rtsp. And you can restream from Wowza with another FMS server in a origin/edge configuretion.

Which one? You can use Wowza as an Origin with FMIS in Origin/Edge.

Thanks for the quick response Richard. Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner, I had a distracted day.

I should have explained further. We are already successfully streaming RTSP and RTMP using Wowza and will continue to do so, but I would like to federate the video to another video server solution.

I’m actually getting ahead of myself now because I have a call in to our Omnicast tech guys now, but I know that Omnicast cannot do flash or anything related to their protocol. So I think it’s safe to assume it’s going to be RTSP.

And yes, I suppose this would be like an Origin/Edge setup with the Origin being Wowza and the Edge server the Omnicast.

I have a situation where the opposite order would be ideal… to have Wowza use Genetec Omnicast as a live video source.

Has anyone successfully accomplished this, before?

The WINK Forge by this company http://www.winkstreaming.com/en/forge/ does what you are after.
