Can Wowza be configured as an SRT Listener

Hi, Can Wowza be used as an SRT Listener? I would like to initiate the SRT call from a client device to the Wowza Server in Listener mode.

Tom

Im looking forward to accomplish this too.

Yes, it can be configured as an SRT listener @Marcelo Coggan. For SRT, the modes we support are Caller(Outbound using SRT Stream Target) and Listener(Ingest using SRT MediaCaster).

I will send you some support articles on how to do this.

Please use these docs @Tom Thill and @Marcelo Coggan as a reference:

  1. https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-create-and-use-stream-files-in-wowza-streaming-engine-manager

  2. https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-specify-per-stream-settings-in-stream-files#srtstreams

  3. Wowza Streaming Engine also introduces the ability to create a generic stream target that sends an SRT stream from Wowza Streaming Engine to destinations such as content delivery networks (CDNs) and streaming services for distributed delivery. The destination distributes your live stream, enabling you to scale your Streaming Engine implementation, computing resources, and delivery options for a variety of scenarios.

For more information, see How to use SRT to distribute live streams.

Please reach out with any questions!

Now as it´s 2024: Can Wowza Streaming Engine (WSE) receive SRT streams as a caller?

I imagine to configure a stream file with Stream URI "srt://{public_external_ip}:{port} while public external ip is not the ip of the WSE itself.

Workaroud if not?

Use case: Our video source is forced to listener mode. The taks is to take it from there and serve it to customer who pulls it via RTMP. (Nothing more than that. Sounds simple.)
