Wowza as relay server

Hi,

I would like to setup relay server (in middle of 2 Wowza Server). I am wondering which StreamType would be more appropraite for application to behave as Relay Server?

live (origin) => liverepeater-edge-origin (Relay) => liverepeater-edge

OR

live (origin) => liverepeater-edge (Relay) => liverepeater-edge

OR

live (origin) => liverepeater-origin (Relay) => liverepeater-edge

Thanks,

S

Hi

In my opinion the set-up should be like this :

live (origin) => liverepeater-edge (Relay) => liverepeater-edge

Actually, don’t use cupertinostreamingrepeater on the origin. Refer to this guide for standard Liverepeater configuration:

https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-configure-a-live-stream-repeater

And take a look at this guide for a variation that packetizes on the edge:

https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-lock-multi-bitrate-streams-on-live-stream-repeater-edge

To mitigate start time for HLS streams, take a look at this guide:

https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-configure-apple-hls-packetization-cupertinostreaming

Hi

If you’re using a origin url you need to make sure that the cupertinostreamingrepeater is enabled at the origin server.

If you’re using a .stream file then the packetization is done on the edge server by enabling cupertinostreamingpacketizer.

You will need to keep all streams running between live and relay for HLS out.

Jason

Thanks Jason for quickly responding.

This server will be doing RTMP and HLS, does this impact anyway?

Also do I need to keep all streams running between live and relay for HLS out?

If I do not keep it running, how much delay customer can expierence with HLS?
