Hello all!
I try to set up Wowza 3 to publish and play live stream, using this tutorial:
https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-publish-and-play-a-live-stream-mpeg-ts-based-encoder
but on Wowza output, i can see only audion stream. As source i use MPEG2-TS stream. Multicat address:
udp://239.1.1.11:2222. When i open this multicast address (in vlc) i can see both video and audio strems. Help me please.
By the way, I just start woking with Wowza. ))
If you are using the transcoder then you need to play the transcoded stream and not the source stream. The source stream will not play. Try the URL:
rtsp://[my wowza ip]/live/mpegts.stream_360p
Charlie
The source video codec (mpeg2) is not supported in Wowza 2. You can use VLC or other transcoder in between. Take a look at the transcoding examples at the bottom of this article:
https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-use-vlc-as-a-live-stream-encoder-with-wowza-media-server-mpeg-ts )
Wowza 3 (Oct release) transcoder will transcode mpeg2 to h.264
Richard
The mpegts stream has to contain h.264 video, unless you are using the Wowza Transcoder
You can play the source directly in VLC and check Tools > Codec Info.
Richard
You can change it to h.264 on the encoder side, or use a transcoder, for example the Wowza 3 Transcoder
Richard
All the transcoder documentation is arranged here:
https://www.wowza.com/docs/wowza-transcoder
Richard
I read your question as, “where do I start?” These tutorials were just put together. Read what is relevant, then try it out, and ask more questions.
Richard
I’m trying to make it. But while the result is zero.
What should I add? Application.xml? transrate.xml? transcode.xml?
Can you restate the problem? The above is a request for instructions, so if that is the problem, I really only have the tutorials.
Richard
Again, you seem to be asking for instructions. I was showing you where they were.
If you have configured transcoder and have some logging from testing, zip up and send the conf and logs folders to support@wowza.com
Include a detailed explanation of your encoder setup, screen shots if it is convenient.
Include a link to this thread for reference.
Richard
Hi
when you are trying view the stream in vlc go to tools then codec details and post the info given to give a better idea of what the problem might be.
You could also look into the wowza logs and post what you see there
generally found in [wowza install location]/logs
There are 2 log files you should take a look at.
wowzamediaserver_access.log
wowzamediaserver_error.log
One of these logs may show a incorrect codec.
Jason
Hi
Wowza 3 can take in an MPEG2 steam but you need to correctly set up your transcoder in order to send the new steam to (e.g a flash client)
Jason
In Wowza console, then i try to see RTSP stream in VLC:
WARN server comment - RTPPlayer.describe: No video packetizer[11]: MPEG2
Codec information in VLC, then i try to see bad stream:
Stream 0
Type: Audio
Codec: MPEG Audio layer 1/2/3 (mpga)
Cjannel: stereo
Sample rate: 4800 Hz
Bitrate: 192 kb/s
Codec information in VLC, then i open soupce multicast stream:
Stream 0
Type: Video
Original ID: 1001
Codec: Mpeg-1/2 Video (mpgv)
Resolution: 720x576
Frame rate: 50
Stream 1
Type: Audio
Original ID: 1002
Codec: MPEG Audio layer 1/2/3 (mpga)
Language: Russian
Channels: Stereo
Sample rate: 4800 Hz
Bitrate: 192 kb/s
Richard, I use Wowza 3 (look at topic name), downloaded from here: https://www.wowza.com/wowza-server-3-preview.php .
Now i try to run Wowza 3 transcoder on Wondows server 2008 (64 bit), with JDK 64 bit, but without success. Please, look at my new topic:
https://www.wowza.com/forums/showthread.php?14982-Wowza-3-transcoder-does-not-work-correctly
Richard, is it true, that Wowza 3, from here (https://www.wowza.com/wowza-server-3-preview.php ) does not support transcode mpeg2 to h.264?

Resolution: 720x576
Frame rate: 50
Output (from wowza) - only audio.
Any ideas?

Encoder side - this is impossible.
“or use a transcoder, for example the Wowza 3 Transcoder”
Well said.
I’m trying to make it. But while the result is zero.
What should I add? Application.xml? transrate.xml? transcode.xml?

Excellent link from Wowza support. * Irony *
It is true that in your license agreement: “NEED HELP? The Wowza Forums are packed with up to date information and assistance. Visit the forums at: https://www.wowza.com/forums/ ” ?

Maybe I better put my files with the configuration?
And you tell me what could be the problem.
Or is it better to send it by e-mail?
If we have a license of wowza2 I can take the help of e-mail.
As you can see not one I have a problem.
