Windows Media Server to Wowza,possible?

Hey,

I’m excited with the wowza 3 release and was stunned seeing the transcoder option,im already a license(wowza 2) but would like to get the wowza 3 if the following works…

Can this transcoder transcode mms/rtsp streams coming from windows media server and give out in h.264/aac?

all i need is a yes or no… thanks a lot guys and great work !

learner!

MMS ingest is not supported, but I think re-streaming RTSP from Windows Media Server in a Wowza application with Transcoder enabled might work.

Richard

If there are corresponding .unbind statements just after those with no “firstPacket: TCP:$0” in between, then UDP ports are blocked.

Try adding forceInterleaved Property to /conf/[app-name]/Application.xml /MediaCaster /Properties list, to re-stream over TCP instead:

<MediaCaster>
<Properties>
<Property>
	<Name>forceInterleaved</Name>
	<Value>true</Value>
	<Type>Boolean</Type>
</Property>
</Properties>
</MediaCaster>

Richard

Hi LearnerDev,

Check the Transcoder User Guide, page 9 at the time of this writing, to ensure that your incoming stream to Wowza is using supported codecs.

You can use ffmpeg, vlc, handbrake, etc… You can convert to H.264/AAC right in the VLC GUI. Media menu -> Convert/Save.

thank you richard,

I will try and let you know. :slight_smile:

and if anyone already got it working,please share :slight_smile:

I tried changing the source url to rtsp://127.0.0.1:554/teststream and rtsp://serverip/teststream still doesnt work :frowning:

and my stream from windows media services/server has WMV3 - video codec and wma2 - audio codec.

Help me out richard,thanks a ton!

thanks randall,

im totally disappointed :frowning: btw do you have any suggestion for a transcoder ?

its a live stream and any guides or anything on ffmpeg?

vlc keeps crashing every now and then :frowning:

cheers!
