Video On-Demand Streaming

I am new to Wowza. Have just installed Wowza Media Server 3.0.2. Have just installed Java 6 JRE. Have watched tutorial “Video On-Demand Streaming” showing a simple video streaming example. I have followed this example but when I click on play at the end I get the following message " Connection failed: Try rtmp://[wowza-ip-address]/vod" What are the most likely reasons for this failure? What should I try next? Any help or direction would be much appreciated. Thanks Murray

Hello primesecurity,

Follow this tutorial: https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-set-up-video-on-demand-streaming

Hi projexchange,

Let us try to get your vod application working. Follow the VOD tutorial: https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-set-up-video-on-demand-streaming.

Let me know if you need clarification of any of the steps. If you get any error messages in the player or in the wowza logs, please post them.

Hi Randall - I followed your suggested tutorial above: “[install-dir]/applications/vod” already existed but empty. “[install-dir]/conf/vod/Application.xml” already existed with correctly formatted “Application.xml”. [install-dir]/conf/Application.xml already existed with correctly formatted “Application.xml”. But still when I click the play button I get the following message " Connection failed: Try rtmp://[wowza-ip-address]/vod" For your info I am using Internet Explorer 9 from the same PC I have Wowza loaded on. The PC’s has IP 192.168.1.90. When I enter http://192.168.1.90 into browser it is unrecognised. Does this mean Wowza isn’t working? Any help much appreciated - Thanks Murray

Hi Randal - Have it working now - Thanks Murray

@primesecurity would appreciate it if you could share what you did to get it working. i have a similar situation as you do, i think. i’m running WMS 3.03 on Java 7/Windows 7 x64, and even though i installed the samples correctly, i cannot seem to get any of the samples working.
