Update to 4.7.1 messes up WSE Manager over SSL

I installed the update to 4.7.1 today, but had to uninstall it as it seems to mess up the manager when running over SSL. When I tried to log into the manager over the default unsecure port, it wouldn’t let me.

Any idea why?

Thanks,

-Chris

Hello Chris ,

Are you seeing this after carrying out the clean install, and then setting back up the HTTPS Manager access?

I just went through this on my test machine (Windows 10) and I am not seeing the issue you are reporting.

If you are still facing issues after going back through the HTTPS Manager configuration process, please submit a support ticket here:

I didn’t do a clean install, I followed the update instructions (https://www.wowza.com/docs/How-to-update-your-Wowza-Streaming-Engine-installation#install_update_linux_text). I shouldn’t have to re-setup everything to access the manager over https, which is why I uninstalled the update, figuring the update was bugged. Does the update make you have to set things back up? That’d be nuts.

Hello Chris,

This is a known issue that existed before this Critical update:

https://www.wowza.com/docs/important-issues-that-affect-wowza-streaming-engine-software#sslmanager

The extra step I have taken is to save a back up of my startmgr.bat (for Windows) or startmgr.sh (for Linux and OSx) in my [WowzaInstallDirectory]/updates/ directory as a reminder to copy this edited file back to [WowzaInstallDirectory]/manager/bin after applying any update.

I do hope this helps.

Thanks for that, I will try it tonight and post back the results. BTW, shouldn’t the updater check for anything like that, changes to the startmgr file before overwriting it?

That worked.

Thank you,
