streamschedule.smil: Naming scheme of

Hi,

I would appreciate help in understanding the correct format to write streamschedule.smil files.

Regarding what goes in the “name” attribute above, are there any particular rules?

For example, is it valid to have multiple tags of the same name?

Furthermore, does Wowza read this value at all?

I have the feature working as expected, and am now writing guidelines for our operators to manually modify the file as necessary.

It would help reduce work load if I can advise to simply ignore the name attribute and make them all the same, or ultimately delete it.

Hi,

Yes the name is needed. Think of the playlist as an event id. They probably don’t have to be unique, but it’s something you should verify if you are gong to document a process.

What really matters is the schedule time.

Actually, a correction to the above.

The playlist names DO have to be unique.

Nice to know.

So as long as the names are unique, they do not need to include serial numbers as in the examples.

That makes it easier to manage.
