Hi, I’m a complete newbie with both video streaming and Wowza.
So far I have setup the “live” and “dvr” examples with much success. While I can stream live to Safari on Mac OSX (via QuickTime), I cannot find a way to get the dvr stream to work. It always comes up as a live stream. It works great on iPhone/iPad.
I don’t see a sample URL in the nDVR guide so is this something that is not supported?
Having much fun with this new (to me!) technology.
Cheers,
Jo
Can you elaborate on what does not work? More detail about what you are doing, what guide you are following, encoder, clients, etc.

nDVR requires an HTTP transport such as cupertino, smooth, or sanjose streaming. To use DVR, simply append ?DVR to the media URL, like this:
http://wowza.server/application/stream/manifest.f4m?DVR

There should be an f4m and http streaming plugin for Flowplayer coming out very soon. It still needs a few tweaks to make DVR work, and I do’t know if it will make it into the release (one of the developers told me that features are currently frozen for this release but he will see if he can make the DVR tweaks as part of this release)

Hello Jo. Yes, this was an issue that we reported to Apple back in August of last year - they have since resolved it in the newer builds of Safari (7534) as you have seen from your testing.
Can you elaborate on what does not work? More detail about what you are doing, what guide you are following, encoder, clients, etc.

It looks like we have the dvr working in Safari in Mac OSX and iOS. Just trying to get it to work with flash for Firefox, IE and Chrome. We are using jplayer (from jplayer.org). We have used rtmp for the live stream successfully but can’t get anything to work with flash in jplayer using nDVR. I’m guessing at this point that jplayer doesn’t support flash http streaming. What is the recommended flash player for using with nDVR?

Thanks for the responses. We’ve gotten the nDVR application working in Firefox & Chrome using Flash. Its also working in iOS on iPad and iPhone. It also works in Safari Version 5.1.2 (7534.52.7) on Lion.
But on Safari Version 5.1.2 (6534.52.7) and Version 4.0.5 (6531.22.7), both on Snow Leopard it doesn’t play.
Here’s the sample html file I used:
Video Streaming Sample 1
I’ve also tried the VOD application and that is working everywhere, even with the two Safari versions on Snow Leopard. Here’s the html for VOD:
Video Streaming Sample 2
For Lion I have Quicktime 10.1 (501.5) and for Snow Leopard I have Quicktime 10.0 (131).
Any ideas as to why nDVR doesn’t appear to work with this combination of OSX and Safari?
Many thanks,
Jo
