Scaling for Single Bitrate Streams

What is the best route to scale for multiple http connections for live events? I’m running the latest version of wowza and would like to load balance or scale using target servers b/c it’s cheaper for single bitrate streams. Is DNS round robin the best option or is there another way to do it on this latest version? I know I can easily scale using my wowza cdn account, but the charges are astronomical if you’re not sending multiple bitrates.

Expected Connections around 2000

Highest Bitrate 548 kbps for Video and Audio

Server Setup

1 - Server for Ingest with 64 gigs of Ram, 1 gig NIC, x2 E5 processors, 20 Terabytes of storage in RAID 5. 50 - 80 rtmp ingests being recorded which is all I want this server responsible for.

2 Servers for target/distribution/load sharing for connections only with 16 gigs of RAM, x1 E3 processor and x2 1 TB RAID 1 drives. (Used just for connections)

Hello,

You might want to checkout the free Wowza Load Balancer Add-on. This would allow you to distribute your incoming playback connections between servers and is more robust than a simple DNS round-robin setup.
