Our Wowza servers are consuming a lot of memory and when I examined the heap, it was full of HTTP stream objects that were not being released. If I remove smooth streaming packetizer from the config, will I see less memory allocation and will streams using cupertino and san jose specifically be affected?
Hello, this is a very similar post as your older post here that seems to have been resolved via the Wowza support ticket system.
But to answer your question, if you have LiveStreamPacketizers, or the different playback types configured, but don’t actually use some of them, then turning off the ones
not used could save much memory usage. This will have no effect on the remaining playback types.

Thanks. That gave me some confidence to remove Smooth.
You are welcome. Glad I was able to help.
