Quick Sync accelerated encoding on Linux 7.3 with Intel® Media Server Studio 2017 R3

Hello,

Whether latest version of Wowza Streaming Engine is compatible for Intel quick sync encoding on CentOS 7.3.1611 with default kernel (3.10.0-514.el7.x86_64) and Intel® Media Server Studio 2017 R3

Community Edition. Intel® Media Server Studio 2017 R3 for linux recommends CentOS 7.3.1611.

Hello,

The only tested Linux/Quick Sync configurations we officially support are defined in the following article:

To enable Broadwell (5th-generation) or Skylake (6th-generation) microarchitecture support in Linux, see CentoOS 7.2-1511 (x86_64) instructions. To enable support for earlier microarchitectures (Haswell), see CentoOS 7.1-1503 (x86_64) instructions.

We do not support Kaby Lake microarchitectures at this time.

Other forum members maybe able to give you more feedback on different Linux configurations that have been successful.

Best regards,
Andrew

In the refered article for centos 7.2 on skylake https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-configure-quick-sync-accelerated-encoding-on-linux#centos7_2

What should I write as default QuickSync plugin path on centos 7.2 in place of “quicksync-2017r1” or I should leave the path as it is? is it “/opt/intel/mediasdk/lib64”;

<Transcoder>
	<PluginPaths>
		<QuickSync>quicksync-2017r1</QuickSync>
	</PluginPaths>
</Transcoder>

Hello,

Thanks for pointing this out. Actually the XML is correct but the paragraph above it will be updated by our Articles Team from r6 to r1. So for the CentOS 7.2 section, it should reference quicksync-2017r1.

Best regards,
Andrew

Thanks Andrew for prompt response. Actually What I intend to say, there is a string in the XML “quicksync-2017r1” for Quicksync pluginpath value. Should I replace this string/value with actual path value or it should remain as it is given in article?

regards

Hello Rajesh,

It should remain as shown in the article. If you’re having issues you may want to run the following Intel System Analyser Tool to ensure that the system is ready for use with Quick Sync.

Best regards,

Andrew
