Usage Environment:
We are currently using Wowza Streaming Engine purchased from Azure Marketplace.
The usage is very minimal — we only use it a few days per year.
Plan:
We are planning to keep the VM in a deallocated state for 1 to 2 years.
In this state, the VM is completely shut down and no compute charges are incurred in Azure.
When we restart the VM after this long deallocation period Will the Wowza license still be valid?
Will the license be properly activated and function as expected?
Hello,
since for Azure VMs, the billing and license key subscriptions are run through Azure, things might be complicated, so I’d advise you to open a ticket with customerservice@wowza.com with your customer data and current license key, so they can look into it and give a definite answer.
However, given the usage pattern you described, our hosted Wowza Video platform might be a viable alternative, since we now offer a $0 monthly base cost Pay As You Go plan (you just pay for usage).
