Can not Start as a Service with Log On Tab

If I set WOWZA to start automatically using my local system account, I don’t have any errors.

But aince we’re trying to access a SAN where the video files wil lbe placed, we are using a Service account to connect to that SAN using the Log-On tab option.

However, once we use the service account on the Log-On tab, the service doesn’t want to be restarted again. I am getting

“Windows could not start the WOWZA Media Server service on the Local Computer… .error 5: Access is denied”

What seems to be the issue?

Our network guys are advising me that adding the SERVICE ACCOUNT as an Admin to the running WOWZA server is not best to do.

That should work though.

Richard, the user guide details Linux and Mac® OS X®. Our servers are running Windows Servers 2008 R2.

There’s also no mention of the LOG ON tab on the manual except for pages 17.

Basically, I have an Admin account that I use to log in to the WOWZA Server (Local User Account) and a Service Account to be used to access the SAN. But as I’ve said, using another SERVICE ACCOUNT which has access to the SAN makes it impossible to Auto start the application.

Our network guys are advising me that adding the SERVICE ACCOUNT as an Admin to the running WOWZA server is not best to do.

It should work but is there anything else that we could do aside from this?

Just to help those who might be placed in the same boat as I was…

It seems you need to add the Service Account to the owners of the WOWZA folder for it to be able to use Autostart if you use the Login Tab.
