I think wowza-3 cannot ingest HDS streams right?

Of course it is possible, but I don’t know of any plans at this time.

Not at this time, and I am not seeing anything on the horizon right now either. There is talk about future ingest of smooth streams from Expression 4 Encoder, but that is not definite and there is no time frame.

Are there any plans to implement this?

I’m now dealing with several streams that are HLS sourced only, so I’m stuck using reverse proxy to bring them into our network. Being able to ingest (and re-package for different protocols) using wowza would be fantastic.

Hello there.

Are you asking if Wowza will ingest an HTTP source as input? If so the answer would be no, except for ShoutCast streams.

Since Wowza Streaming Engine 4.6.0 it is possible to ingest Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) stream (https://www.wowza.com/docs/wowza-streaming-engine-4-6-0-release-notes) and it can be achieved by: https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-publish-and-play-a-live-stream-apple-hls
