Announcing Wowza Streaming Engine 4.8.13

Hello everyone! Here’s what’s new:

A. Beamr is now the default transcoder.
High-quality video has always been a cornerstone of our solutions. That’s why we’ve chosen Beamr as our default transcoder in Wowza Streaming Engine. Beamr leads the industry in video encoding and optimization. This is great news for you, as you’ll now be able to reach more customers with the highest quality — without having to manually select it.

B. Enhancements to VOD DRM:
This enhancement gives the ability to set different encryption keys for each rendition in an adaptive bitrate video stream, making it easier to match stream names with keys. With this change, you’ll have a more flexible encryption key configuration when protecting your streams.

What’s improved:

  • Fixed an issue where caption files weren’t properly loaded in some circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue where part requests fail with a 410 in certain long playback situations.
  • Fixed issues with HLS/CMAF target duration calculations.
  • Fixed issues with missing or incorrect libraries in updater and installer scripts on Linux and Windows.
