ABR streaming across most devices

I read https://www.wowza.com/blog/a-note-on-html5 and came across this:

If you are thinking about using or enhancing your online video delivery with HTML5 video, Wowza can help. Wowza Media Server supports the delivery of video using HTML5 video as follows:

• Live content distribution

o HTTP adaptive bit rate (ABR) streaming

• Apple HLS on iOS devices using the Safari web browser - See more at: https://www.wowza.com/blog/a-note-on-html5#sthash.0NMw67d7.dpuf

I think that only Chrome can handle HTTP ABR - IE and Safari cannot. Is that correct?

So one is better to do any ABR in Flash at present, with HLS for apple products. Does that make sense?

Thanks, ys.

Hi there, you can deliver ABR streams over HLS to desktop using JW Player:

Thanks for that Salvadore - very helpful - I can see it is possible.

However, is there some question about the quality of HLS in flash being not as good as the equivalent rtmp stream? Or have I confused it with something else?
