We record our live streams to play back as VOD. We have had two long streams recently where we did not have any connection issues but the streams were both corrupt and were unable to set them up and play them as VOD. In this same time frame we have had streams that were 5 to 6 hours long and those files are not corrupt. Have any of you had an issue what is the best way to try to figure out what could be causing the corrupt streams.
Any help would be appreciated
TIA
Hello there.
Can you please provide the most detailed explanation of your workflow as possible?
Also, are there any custom modules in play?
We will need more information to troubleshoot this.

We do not use any custom modules. We encode from a laptop that is running Adobe Flash media encoder 3.2. The connection is Ethernet not wireless. We are currently running Wowza Streaming Engine 4.3.0 build16025. The only thing that we have set up is the record option to append in the event we loose connection and regain it. This way we append to the file so we have one VOD stream to deal with.
This has worked with no issues for the last 3 years over several versions. The only thing different is the length of time and size of these streams.
We had not had a long show untill today and again it was about 13 hours. When we tried to play what we recorded it would not play. I verified on the server that the stream was stopped and the file appears to be aroun the correct size for 13 hours (4.7GB).
I looked in the error logs and did not find anything that had a warn/error associated with the file.
Hello,
The most common issue with large file playback is when the file is written to or moved before the recording process has completed. You may want to search your log files for any WARN/ERROR messages related to this recording. If you notice any missing “moov atom” messages, this can indicate that the file was modified before the recording process finished.
Best regards,
Andrew
Hello,
I feel it would be best to open a support ticket for further investigation. Please attach the below logs to the case.
[install-dir]/conf
[install-dir]/logs
[install-dir]/transcoder
[install-dir]/manager/logs
If you are not sure how to get this information please see the following tutorial.
