Wowza Streaming Engine service failed everyday after update

Sorry for my poor english.

Our company use Wowza Streaming Engine 4.7.3 on aws for 6 mouth and it work fine.

But last week, after we update it to 4.8.5 , We get “Wowza Streaming Engine Manager could not connect to the Wowza Streaming Engine service(http://localhost:8087). Verify that the Wowza Streaming Engine service has started and is running.” in everyday.

If run "service WowzaStreamingEngine restart " , Wowza Streaming Engine service go back work and work fine.

But in the next day , it will failed again.

After read the log in /logs and /manager/logs , We still don’t know the reason . It seem the service failed suddenly.

Have you updated Java? When upgrading from 4.7.3 to 4.8.5, you must also change to OpenJDK9 (the change to OpenJDK9 was made in 4.7.8) - read more on https://www.wowza.com/docs/wowza-streaming-engine-update-to-java-9

If you have indeed upgraded to OpenJDK9, then check the Wowza logs. It looks like the Wowza process doesn’t even start, and the Wowza logs may give some insight into the cause.

Thank for your reply.

I have update java to 11 ( I try to update to OpenJDK9 but it failed ).

And i take the aws memory info in the laster 24h, it seems that the wowza’s memory usage increasing, from 700MB to 900MB. Our aws have only 1G memory. So it seem that memory is not enough for 4.8.5.

I will try to increase the aws memory and try again.

Hi there I can try and help, but it may require a support ticket if you continue to see issues.

I would suggest looking at this article because you have to instruct Engine to use the version of Java you are running. So if we have Java 9 in 4.8.5, you can certainly use Java 11 BUT you need to configure that Java version in Engine.

Here are the directions on how to do that:
