What is my limit?

I am currently running the wowza streaming engine on premises on a HPZ420 workstation and have an encoder which is feeding the channel into the streaming engine (no transcoding). My bandwidth is 400Mbps and the stream is roughly 1Mbps bit rate.

My question is how many viewers can i have watching the stream simultaneously? Like what am i being limited by? CPU, Bandwidth…? Can i have 400 different devices watching the stream since my bandwidth is 400Mbps or am i being limited by other things as listed above?

Hello,

You can estimate what would be the limiting factor of your server hardware configuration by using our Load Test tool.

Although you can only test with RTMP connections, it should still give you a ballpark idea on what you server can handle and what would be stressed the most, Network, CPU, Memory etc.
