WebRTC live stream cached in real time for live 'rewind' DVR like Feature

My client has a particular use case. They proctor students via webcams. All of this is done with WebRTC because they need both, the Proctor and the Student, to be able to talk and chat while the proctor watches the student in real-time.

The issue is that if there is something going on that may indicate fraud, the proctor wants to have the ability to ‘rewind’ (time-shifting?) the ‘stream’ (at this point I guess the video has been encoded) and then go back to real-time streaming.

Just like watching Live TV and I want to see something I missed 30 seconds ago, and then back to live TV. Kinda like one of those Xfinity boxes.

Thanks!!!

Interesting. I found an article that describes exactly how to get it done, via Wowza Cloud.

Time to read your own blog

No @Jose Fernandez, we do not support a dvr like feature with webrtc at this time. I do not have any ETA on if and when we will. Thanks for reaching out and asking.

I asked our webrtc engineer before I answered you and he said no. Where is the link you are referring to?

I just checked again and we do not do DVR with WebRTC for Engine, but in Cloud if you are transmuxing the WebRTC to HLS then yes. But not webrtc in and webrtc out. Not possible.

You had said all had to be done with WebRTC.

If there is a link to an article that you saw where it shows different info, PLEASE send it to me so I can check it for accuracy. Thanks @Jose Fernandez.

We not see anything that says dvr for webrtc in and out, so please send it in case we need to fix it.
