VOD and NVENC support

Hello Wowza folks,

we are planning to build a new server for a platform for video - on-demand .

I found a lot of references to the use of CUDA support or NVENC a GPU in live applications ( streaming and transcoder ) .

On the other hand , transcoder addon is only available in an application live .

so , my question is: Are there actual improvements in the use of a GPU for a VOD application ? or not worth it ?

Hi fabamb,

Wowza does not currently support utilizing hardware acceleration for streaming VOD. The main performance issues that you would want to keep in mind for VOD applications is network bandwidth, storage (RAID or SSD), and CPU muscle power.
