Using a server side SMIL for JW Player

According to this page,

https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-use-jw-player-with-adaptive-bitrate-streaming-from-wowza-streaming-engine

“JW Player supports loading dynamic streams from a server-side SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) file.”

Does this mean I can use server side SMIL files for JW player and not just client side SMIL files?

Hi @Justin Yang; I would indeed recommend to have your SMIL files on the server, and let Wowza generate a valid HLS playlist - or a valid MPEG-DASH manifest for that matter, based on the stream request; which can look as follows:

http://[wowza-ip-address]:1935/live/smil:mySmilFile.smil/playlist.m3u8
