stopping (not terminating) Wowza EC2 breaks Wowza Streaming Engine

HI,

I’m using the “Wowza Streaming Engine 4: Standard” AMI on Amazon’s EC2 (Asia Pacific / Sydney).

I start a brand new instance from the https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/library page and configure my live stream via http://:8088/enginemanager. Now,

everything works wonderfully. I stop streaming for the day, so I signout from EngineManager and stop (not terminate, stop) my EC2 instance.

I am not doing any configuration outside of the HTML application available through http://:8088/enginemanager

When I restart the EC2 instance, nothing works

  • http:// displays a page not found error

  • http://:8088/enginemanager indicates that the server hasn’t started.

so I have to reconfigure my stream again. Is this normal behaviour ?

thanks ?

Hello Martin, thank you for choosing Wowza for your streaming needs and welcome to the support forum.

This sounds like you have configured an EBS backed instance, of which allows for starting and stopping the instance. However, it does not guarantee Wowza will start when the instance is started.

I suggest checking to make sure Wowza is running when the instance is started as it sounds like Wowza was never started.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Salvadore
