Hi all, new to the forum although we’ve been using Wowza successfully for many years.
Is there a combination of AppType and StreamType in Application.xml that would allow us to transcode live streams and at the same time be able to play those streams back from the same application instance? Currently I can’t find a way to allow VOD and transcoding at the same time other than via separate application configurations.
The use-case here is that we currently record live streams and then once recorded allow the user to play the recording back from within the same application instance to check it, but this is proving tricky to do when enabling transcoding.
Hi,
Just to clarify - do you wish to be able to play a recording (i.e. a VOD file) while the stream is live? As you’re probably aware you can only play a recording once the live stream has stopped and the files are finalized. Also those recordings will need to be via a “vod” application. It is then possible to play the recordings as an adaptive bitrate group just like you would with the live stream.
You could enable nDVR to provide a VOD like experience for the live stream. This can be played while the stream is active and the recordings are still streamable once the live stream has ended. This also works with Transcoder.
If that’s not what you had in mind then please provide more details, or feel free to open a support ticket and we can work with you on coming up with the best solution.
Regards,
Paul
