Hello,
We’d like to know what our options are to unlock/replace a VOD file currently being watched. It seems that the file becomes locked while it’s being watched and the only way to unlock it is to reboot the server. We want to be able to replace that file with an updated version using the same file name and extension. They are .mp4 files recorded using the live application. Thanks!

Hello!
Thanks for contacting Wowza Forums!
Regarding the locking of the VOD asset while being watched, by locked, do you mean the file freezes and is no longer can be played? Are you monitoring the resources on the server and ensuring the resources are not being saturated? The locking issue seems a bit strange and I suggest opening a ticket HERE and including your /conf and /log files to the ticket. That way we can take a look at the logs to see why the file is locking in the first place. Also, if a ticket is opened, in addition to the files needed, can you also explain your workflow in detail so we can better understand?
On replacing the file, you can do this now. All you do is replace the file manually and purge the cache. Here is an article on purging cache for VOD files.
PURGE Cache
