I am trying to use ReferValidate. I narrowed it down to just the copying of the jar to the lib directory and enabling the module through the Wowza UI causes all client streaming of an RTSP stream to stop. When I remove the module the streaming then works. There are no meaning error messages. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone using this technology? Are there better ways to secure an HTTPS HLS stream?

As far as a better way to secure HLS over HTTPS, you should be able to user DRM or Secure Token to protect your streams with Wowza Streaming engine. See the following links for more info:
