Read-Only Users and GUI Logs

We are currently in the process of upgrading from WowzaMediaServer to Wowza Streaming Engine 4. We really like the manager and can see it as a huge asset. We have a set of 4 developers that develop custom apps against our Wowza cluster. I would like to give them read only accounts so they can see how the servers are configured and also check logs but it looks like logs are configured for only administrators and not read only users.

It also appears that read only users have no access to change their own passwords. Both of these seem to limit our ability to use the read-only user function in the manager.

I was wondering if there is a work around so I don’t need to give these developers full administrator privileges in the manager to manage these two items?

Checking for you @Clinton Reeder and I will respond shortly.

The suggestion from the engineers is to try and limit access at the OS level. This wouldn’t change Wowza Streaming Engine Manager, but could govern who does and doesn’t have access to /logs, /conf, etc.

I hope that helps.

This would be an awesome feature for us in the future as I would love to give my developers access to the servers so they can see how things are configured and also see the logs but not be able to change any of the settings.
