Pull SRT from vmix into WSE or is there a push option from VMIX?

I am trying to pull a srt feed from WSE out of vmix 23. I have tested with vlc on the remote end and the video works, so all the ports and networks look to be fine but using the stream file and trying to get the feed into WSE (latest version) using the stream method just sits at the waiting for stream in the application status. I am running a stream file with the correct ip of the remote srt feed with port.

Is there any further info or more detail - where can I check to see what its not happy about ?

Hey @alex byrd, SRT with VMIX is not a common workflow we have tested so tech support will need you submit a support ticket where our engineers will be happy to work through it with you.

There have been some recent enhancements in the SRT workflow and while there have a been a few tickets submitted for VMIX, tech support would like a ticket to continue testing and work with you on this @alex byrd

Great thanks - will do

Using vMix works once you leave the passphase blank

What a cool tip to share. Thanks @Egbert Williams. This is the kind of user experience commentary we need more of in here!

I have started the ticket process and will try the passphrase - I did not have any passphrase in my config anyway - maybe I will try to put it in and then remove it and see what happens. I will pass back any learnings to here so it can help out other users.

Awesome, really appreciate that. We get a lot of traffic to the forums every single day, so your feedback is helpful to a lot of people.

  1. Set up vMix as caller and put public ip of wowza server as host ip…assign port. DO NOT USE PASSPHASE. Set latency ex 400

Start srt

  1. On wowza server…set stream file srt://0.0.0.0:####(the port you choose).

Set latency 400

3 Assign to srt

Note…Make sure no firewall blocking

Even though as stated above it does work, I like all others are awaiting the changes that would make WSE compatable to the vMix srt solution

Will pass it on and add as a feature request.

Thanks for all the input.

I managed to get it working the bit I was missing was the 0.0.0.0 address - maybe the docs did not make it clear to me - despite streaming for many many years I have always done a push RTMP from the variety of software and hardware encoders I have used and not had to set up a stream file before.

I have managed to get an SRT stream to go up to a local WSE dev server and then send it back to vMix as an input and have it running for a number of hours. I just need to crack doing that with our WSE in the data centre but it seems that a firewall is getting in the way - even though its should be allowed to get through as I have cleared the ports for both UDP and TCP.

Thanks for the update and I will see how we can make our docs clearer on this- appreciate the feedback.
