Pricing example for CDN and Egress

I really don´t understand the pricing structure for CDN and/or egress delivery.
What exactly does “Egress” mean?
Do I have to pay the egress delivery bandwith on top of the CDN delivery for every viewer or do I have to pay the egress delivery bandwith for one uploaded stream?

What is the correct pricing example for 1hour stream with 1000 viewers and 2000kBit/s and passthrough (pay-as-you-go)?

a)

  • monthly : 15$
  • passthrough streaming processing: 0,15$
  • CDN delivery: 2000kBit/s; 1000 viewers; 60min = 858.31 GB x 0.09$/GB = 77,25$
  • egress delivery: 2000kBit/s; 1000 viewers; 60min = 858.31 GB x 0.20$/GB = 171.66$
    = 264.06$

b)

  • monthly : 15$
  • passthrough streaming processing: 0,15$
  • CDN delivery: 2000kBit/s; 1000 viewers; 60min = 858.31 GB x 0.09$/GB = 77,25$
  • egress delivery: 2000kBit/s; one upload stream; 60min = 0.86 GB x 0.20$/GB = 0.2$
    = 92.6$

c)

  • monthly : 15$
  • passthrough streaming processing: 0,15$
  • CDN delivery: 2000kBit/s; 1000 viewers; 60min = 858.31 GB x 0.09$/GB = 77,25$
    = 92.4$

You will want to contact sales@wowza.com for a pricing quote from sales. They can get more information from you on your workflow and use a pricing calculator to help you. Egress is traffic that leaves Wowza Streaming Cloud and goes to the Wowza CDN and custom stream targets. Usually a smaller cost compared to CDN usage.

But please reach out to sales since I cannot calculate workflow costs in forums. Thank you!
