We have an article on how to reduce Apple HLS latency.
https://www.wowza.com/blog/hls-latency-sucks-but-heres-how-to-fix-it
If you are looking to sub three second latency please read the article below.
https://www.wowza.com/blog/latency-sucks-less-advancements-in-low-latency-live-streaming
Note that WebRTC is for real time chat between browsers and is not designed for distributing a live feed from an encoder.
Hello Kevin,
I have applied every tutorial, delay continues for more than 30 seconds, I am on the server side
https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-improve-playback-of-lower-latency-apple-hls-streams
Sorry for your trouble with latency @Daniel Cunha after following all the tutorials.
Making sure though…you did change the defaults if you are using HLS for playback? They are set at 10 seconds for each chunk by default and you need three chunks for playback- that would give you 30 seconds of latency right there.
Have a look here:
https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-configure-apple-hls-packetization-cupertinostreaming
Look at the chunktargetduration property. If your encoding is set to 2 second key frame you can set this to 2 000 and it should drop you latency to around 6-8 seconds.
Let me know please if this helps.
