LiveMediaStreamReceiver.doWatchdog: streamTimeout: Resetting connection Error

Hello All,

I get a lot of errors of this type in my Wowza edges.

In a busy day I get about 11,000 of these in my error logs! My question is how viewers are effected when this error is happening in one of the edges in the load-balancer?

When testing myself, while this error is happening, I see JWPlayer trying to load a stream but then stops (loading icon is rotating and then play button comes up again). Occasionally I have seen that JWPlayer automatically attempts to play the live stream again after first failed attempt (20-30 seconds later) and this time it is able to play.

I am not sure what is happening here. Did Wowza redirect viewer to a new edge once the original edge gave a time-out error? or is it trying the same edge? Would it be possible to reduce the 20-30 second wait before this second attempt by JwPlayer (this would really help us out)

I quote from Charlie in a different thread (similar issue)

If you are seeing tons of these it means the encoder stream is no longer available so Wowza is attempting to reconnect.

I am not entirely sure if this is happening because stream is not available or because edge is having network issues.

Since in my test JWPlayer auto reconnect was able to give me live stream in some cases I believe this is not a stream “not available” issues.
