Java Support on Wowza Streaming Engine

Hello everyone,

As you may know, next month will be the end of public updates for Java 8. However, this is the recommended version by Wowza to run the installation. Is there any provision for this? It will be a shame if there will be no support for a newer version of Java by Wowza.

Thank you

Alia

any news on this?

Checking right now for you…

We are aware of the concerns you’ve raised around the changes to the Java licensing platform @Alia Papa. Our Product and Development Teams are in the middle of our investigation into this matter and are evaluating a number of options. Our overall goal intention is to find a solution that does not have a negative financial impact on either Wowza or our customers.

Further details will be communicated to all Wowza customers as this situation progresses. If there are any further questions or concerns please let us know and we’ll do our best to answer them.

Note that the version of Java does not need to be updated and should be the version that ships with the Wowza software.

Hello,

I am very greatful for your answer and I would like to ask if there is an update on this issue.

Thank you very much and I am looking forward to your answer.

Hi.

Any news on this? Why must we still use a 3.5 year old Java version if we want to use WSE Manager? At least provide an upgrade with the latest Java 8 update, ensuring security upgrades since the last 3.5 years.

Thanks.

Be happy to ask @DEO ETV- be back shortly.

We are currently working on Java 9 support in the next release of Engine. I do not have an ETA and I am sorry for that. It is actively being worked on though.

Is there an update on this?

No date yet @Paul Gschwind, but I will let you know when we have it.
