java.nio.BufferOverflowException with 1.5 preview

I installed the latest preview and installed it on a RHEL5 machine without any problems. After successfully starting the service I get a java exception when I make my first request. Any ideas?

Output pasted below.

Also, is it possible to install the server under the existing tomcat5 installation instead of /usr/local/Wowza…?

Thanks,

Charlie

Are you making a request over port 8083? Port 8083 is for server shutdown. If you want to run the examples, follow the instructions in the README.html file that is included in each of the examples folders. If you want to ping the server to get the version number enter the url:

http://[server-ip-address]:1935

Charlie

You can move the server anywhere you like after installation. Just make sure you update the /usr/local/WowzaMediaServerPro symbolic link to point to the new location.

Charlie

Ports 8085 and 8086 are used by the JConsole/JMX system. You either need to change the JMX ports in conf/Server.xml or not use these ports for streaming.

Charlie

You are showing startup lines, and where it is failing is where Wowza should be binding to port 8086 (not 8085).

Have you changed /conf/VHost.xml /HostPort /Port “8086” ?

Richard

Are you just trying to use port 8085 for streaming? If so, why that port? Wowza uses that port for something else. If you want to use non-standard port, there are many other options.

You can add non-standard ports to /conf/VHost.xml /HostPort /Port “1935”. If you change that to, e.g., “1935, 8080”, (restart Wowza after this change) then you can use that port for streaming:

Server: rtmp://[wowza-address]:8080/vod

Stream: mp4:sample.mp4

You have to use non-standard port, which is true for every protocol; Each has one standard port, RTMP’s is 1935.

Richard

You have to use non-standard port explicitly, which is true for every protocol; Each has one standard port, RTMP’s is 1935.

I wonder if you are getting kicked by Windows for some reason. Is there anything in the Windows Application Event log?

Richard

Also, you can try removing the CommandInterface section at the top of the /conf/Server.xml file. I have a feeling that this would be a band-aid at best, but worth trying, at least see what happens. Remove or comment out this whole section:

<CommandInterface>
			<HostPort>
				<IpAddress>*</IpAddress>
				<Port>8083</Port>
			</HostPort>
		</CommandInterface>

Richard

That was it. The “CMDInterface now listening: [any]:8083” caught my eye so I assumed that was the port. Any comments on the tomcat question?

Thanks,
