I was wondering if this could be an idea for Wowza to look into.
Firefox 3.5 and Opera 10 has support for this new “pluginfree” way of showing video on a web page.

The codec’s being used is Theora and Vorbis.
We have no short term plans to support these formats. We will consider.

I currently use Icecast for all my Xiph.org type needs… although I would LOVE to see support for these codecs introduced in to Wowza.

I know Wowza is a Flash media server but why not

It is certainly something we will consider as we refine the roadmap for future versions of the server. We are paying close attention to the HTML5 video/audio capabilities as they unfold in the different browser applications and operating systems. This first round we chose to focus on HTTP Live Streaming from Apple and Smooth Streaming from Microsoft. We feel like this is a good place to start.

We are planning on support live and video on demand streaming to Silverlight. We will log session activity much like we do with Flash. We plan on providing a means to deploy a fully scaled environment for delivering vod and live streaming across a large, multi-server environment.

I’d love to see Theora/OGG support with Wowza!
Smooth streaming looks very interesting . I have studied the IIS extensions , looks like the live plugin is still in Beta.

Could you say something about what type of functionality you gonna implement (Smooth streaming) ?
Till now i still do not see wowza supports Theora/OGG. Nowadays HTML5 is widely used as many ppl are using Google Chrome
