HTML5 live video stream

Hello!

I have read several threads about html5 live streaming on your forum, but I didn’t find an answer on my question.

Topics rather old(2012-2014), maybe the situation has changed.

My application captures video from webcam and I need to send live stream from browser to wowza server.

Can I do it with Wowza? And how does it do? Are some tutorials or examples?

Thank

Hello there Ivan. Welcome to the Wowza support forum.

Can you please provide more information about your setup?

What type of application is capturing the webcam feed? Is it Flash?

What codecs are you using?

Also, please be sure have you read the Wowza User Guide

Kind regards,

Salvadore

Ivan, at present WebRTC is not supported in Wowza.

According to this forum post, it is on the radar and there seems to be a plan to implement it. Beyond that I don’t have anymore information.

Wowza Media Server support of WebRTC endpoints?

Hello, Salvadore.

I capture the stream from camera using Html5 and JS only like there http://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/getusermedia/intro/.

I cann’t say you about codec that used.

Can I send this stream to Wowza? This app has to work on browsers on mobile devices and on desktops. I cann’t use Flash, only HTML5.

ok, Salvadore, thank for your help!

Is there an answer to this exact question in 2018?

I don’t know how to capture a stream from a regular webcam inside a browser (not from an IP camera, so I don’t know what the encoder is in this situation) and send it to wowza.

Hello @Ana Basaric, Wowza Streaming Engine does support webRTC and even though it is in preview for a bit longer, many people are creating successful workflows.

You can check it out here:

You can also connect a video from an android phone or iOS phone to the Wowza Streaming Engine or Wowza Streaming Cloud.
