I need to transcode three 4k input streams at 25fps for live DASH, to create 3 adaptations sets with 3 representations each (multi-view DASH live streaming scenario). Which hardware requirements shall my machine have? I need to buy a server for that and I would like to know how to select the correct HW.
On the user side, I have a very simple scenario, with a very limited number of clients (2 for example).
Thanks.
Hello,
Although we cannot give an exact hardware recommendation, you might want to try your workflow with a cloud instance of Wowza Streaming Engine on AWS, Google or Azure. This would give you a chance to try a set configuration and see how it performs with your configuration and sources. You should be able to use this as a baseline for the hardware configuration needed.
AWS includes some GPU enabled instances that are have very powerful GPU configurations and can handle high transcoding load. Although you only need to transcode 3 incoming streams, with them being 4k sources, the transcoding load is definitely going to be substantial. Follow the article below carefully to create a G2 instance that works with Wowza Streaming Engine:
