GoCoder App Not Streaming or Disconnecting

Hello.

I have just started to use the Wowza GoCoder app on a Samsung Galaxy S8. It worked fine for the first day streaming the video onto a 3rd party website. The next day, it stopped working. Though I was testing different settings, I have the same settings as I started with. But, it doesn’t stream to the 3rd party website at all now.

S8 currently shows it’s streaming since the time counter is increasing. When I stop the streaming manually on the S8 device, it doesn’t want to disconnect the streaming either. It gives a message showing “Disconnecting…,” but it doesn’t disconnect. I am waiting and waiting and waiting. The only way to come out is close down the GoCoder app and start all over.

I tried on an old iPod with the same settings and the video stream reaches fine to the 3rd party website. So the issue is not in the app’s settings nor the 3rd party website. It is something to do with the GoCoder app and/or Samsung S8.

Has anyone experieced something like this not being able to stream at all despite the settings being correct? Or has anyone seen the “Disconnecting…” message and can’t disconnect the stream? How to resolve this peculiar issue?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Hello @Ashish Shah, just to be clear, you are asking about the regular GoCoder app you can download from Google Play or Apple store? Or are you talking about an app you actually built yourself with the GoCoder SDK?

The reason I ask is because this issue was fixed in a recent version of our GoCoder SDK. I will look for your response- thank you.

Hi Rose.

I am referring to the GoCoder app from Google Play Store. Would you know if this issue was corrected or planned to be?

Thanks.

This is an issue for our organization as well. We have 2 developers who use the GoCoder app on an Android, and they are still seeing this issue. The app claims to be streaming, but it never actually does. When you try to close the stream, the app just spins until you force close the app, and then there’s a “report bug crash” popup when you open gocoder again.

Our developers using iPhones are not see the issue.

I am sorry this is happening and I know of Friday the GoCoder team was aware of the issue. Le me get an update and I will be right back.

Can you let me know @Jeff McCollough if you are seeing this issue on Android 9 devices? This feedback is helpful in resolving this. Thanks.

Hi Rose.

I do have Android Version 9 on Samsung S8. It does not stream nor disconnect. I have to forcefully end the app.

Yes, they are all using Android 9 devices.

Ok thank you @Ashish Shah, we have an engineer actively testing for a solution on Android 9 devices. So sorry for the inconvenience and I will update you as soon as I receive one.

Same for me, works on my old phones that don’t have any update.

But don’t work on any updated phones Tried samsung S8+, Note8, note10, s9+. all fails even if the app seems to work on the phone, it just send a black screen and sound to the server, and hangs when I stop it

Best regards

Howie

Any update on this issue?

FYI same problem on note 10+

Best regards

Moica

Thanks @Monica Stromsrud and @Ashish Shah for your patience on this. The update is our engineers are actively working on adding support for Android 9 OS devices and we will offer this is our next Android SDK release.

The ETA on that is one month. I will announce the new version here in the forums the day it is released. Sorry for any inconvenience in the meantime.

I have the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy S9+. Any news about when the new version will be released?

Best regards

No, I do not have a date yet, but I will post it here in the forums when it is released and everyone will be notified within this post.
