getting the highest quality video-chat...

if bandwidth and cpu are non-issues, what would the settings be (from within flash & on the wowza side) for the highest possible quality video chat (no delay, best audio/video)?

in particular, i’m having issues with video/audio delay… bufferTime is set to zero. however, in monitoring the netstream info, i can see that videoBufferLength is up to 3+ sec from time to time.

thanks

Hi

You can achieve lower latency by using the tutorial found here,

https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-set-up-low-latency-applications-in-wowza-streaming-engine-for-rtmp-streaming

If you find that the audio and video are delayed this is probably due to bandwidth, one side of the conversation may not be able to send/receive at the bitrate you currently have.

If you lower the stream bitrate to 500kbps and test it gradually making the bitrate higher then you should be able to tell where your general limits are.

Wilbur,

You can control such things in flash, but it would require custom programming on your part.

thanks, jason… that’s quite helpful.

one more question… is there a way to control the camera/mic capture/publish bitrate on the fly?

thanks
