Get a chunk of mp4 file

I know how to get a chunk of a file in streaming mode (ios or flash based), but is there a way to access a non-streaming mp4 file and specify the offset. We have large files and we need to access 10 second chunks of these files.

I don’t see any way to access the mp4 file without streaming it for ios or flash and also specify offsets.

You can use ffmpeg to cut up a file.

ffmpeg -y -i infile.mp4 -acodec copy -vcodec copy -ss 00:00:00 -t 00:00:10 outFile.mp4

Wowza only provides start and length features in RTMP and HTTP vod streaming, as you have noted.

The chunks are in memory server-side, not written to disk. You can download them client-side one at a time like this:

Hi Isterin and techical support,

can you please help me, how to get a chunk of a file in streaming mode.

I am receiving the streaming using this link http://217.131.133.48:1935/live/atv.stream/playlist.m3u8, but still don’t know, where is the folder with the chunks

Hi rrlanham,

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately I stuck on 2nd step. When I have inserted the wowzasessionid information onto the end of the URL and have gotten this limk (http://217.131.133.48:1935/live/atv.stream/chunklist.m3u8?wowzasessionid=2118612753) browser didn’t offer me to download the chunklist.m3u8. I have checked that the /conf/[app-name]/Application.xml /LiveStreamPacketizers contains at least “cupertinostreamingpacketizer”. Please assist me. thank you

Hi,

I have tried this and it would appear either the stream is not running , or it is not using a valid format for the packetizer.

Andrew.
