Do you have a sample for reading the embedded closed captioning either 608/708 within the rtmp live stream that passes through wowza?
sample with the player is appreciated.

Mike,
Are the embedded captions CEA-608/CEA-708? Wowza can not convert from CEA-608/CEA-708 at present, only to. It is a future feature, but I don’t have a time frame or know exactly what will be supported.
Richard
If there is CEA-608 data in the incoming live stream Wowza passes that through to iOS clients. So it should work in that case
Richard
I will let you know.

Mike,
I do not have an exact timeline, but will follow up with you directly about a CEA-608 preview program that we are planning.

Just wondered if there was any more general information available for this? If I send the stream to wowza with embedded captions over UDP (MPEG-TS), then I can open VLC
and playback over RTSP from Wowza and find the captions. If I try to read them after sending to RTMP, I have yet to find a player that will find the captions. Are they still there and it’s just
a lack of player support? In that case can you point me to an RTMP player that will find those captions? Is there something else going on?
Thanks,
Mike

They are CEA-708 captions embedded. So, the only question is whether you’ll have that feature by the time the FCC closed caption rules apply. I know you can’t answer that, but anything you can do to get there is appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
