Do you recommend using Wowza Streaming Cloud for Twitch.tv-style website?

We want each user on our website to own 1 live WowZa Live Stream as a Channel. And we are expecting to have 1,000+ users.

Should we use the Stream Engine instead?

Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

We’ve had several customers build something similar to what you’ve described @Champ Camba, but to guide you on whether it should be Engine or Cloud, our sales team will need to ask a few more questions as far as bandwidth, hardware, potential CDN needs. etc.

I’ll have someone from sales reach out today at your email address to gather more info and let you know your product and cost options. But, yes you can build this with Wowza! There’s just a few different ways to do it and we’ll guide you on that.

I’ll use the email address for this forums account that only I can see as Community Manager, so please watch for an email from Wowza even in your spam box. Thanks and good luck!

If anyone here in the community has feedback on building something similar to a TV station or similar to Twitch, please share your feedback on the workflow and products you used so @Champ Camba receives feedback from our active members here in our Wowza Community.

Thank you.

As Rose writes, there are many parameters that come into play when making a solution. To mention a few:

  • What is your input (RTMP, WebRTC, other)?

  • What is the expected bitrate per stream

  • Do you intend to transcode?

  • What is the approximate audience per stream?

  • What is the end-to-end latency that you can accept? Typical ranges are ULL (0-1 sec), LL (1-10 sec), normal (10+), but the lower latency, the more expensive to distribute.

I can’t give you any advise on the financial consequences, you’d have to ask Wowza (and I understand they already will get in contact with you)
