Hi, I’m following the “Create a self-signed SSL certificate for Wowza Streaming Engine” Wowza document in hopes of getting WebRTC to work with my trial version of Wowza Streaming Engine running on my local machine. It’s my understanding WebRTC can only be done using a secure connection.
What confuses me about the instructions is, after I configure a TCP port to use the certificate, it states “You must configure a domain name entry for the domain chosen above and all communications that use port 443 must use either SSL or RTMPS and the domain name specified in the certificate”.
I’m uncertain where I should do this configuration. Any idea?
This doesn’t answer your question, but Wowza Streaming Engine Trial includes the ability to provision a StreamLock cert if you’d rather that process.
Hi Amara - Thank you for the reply. I was under the impression I’m not able to use StreamLock with the Trial. The Wowza document here states: "Wowza StreamLock certificates are available to users with Subscription, Perpetual, or Developer licenses for Wowza Streaming Engine. Alternatively, using your own SSL certificate is available to all Wowza Streaming Engine licenses, including Trials".
If it is indeed possible to use StreamLock with the Trial Wowza Streaming Engine, could you please provide me more info on how?
Thank you.
That’s good info to share with the community and we’ll try to make that more clear. Thank you for adding that to the comments!
It seems not to be possible. When I enter my trial license key when applying for a StreamLock certificate I get “Sorry, your license type is not eligible for StreamLock certificates. Please contact customerservice@wowza.com for assistance”.
Here is a full video tutorial for you too on how to setup the StreamLock SSL certificate.

Answering my own questions: It appears I need an Engine trial account.
Thanks Rose, just getting back to this this afternoon. Your video tutorial on how to setup the StreamLock SSL certificate was super helpful. I now have it working. Thank you!
That’s so fantastic to hear! Made my whole day to know that helped you!
