Consultant to Support Transition from Helix to Wowza

We are looking for a consultant to develop the necessary modules for Wowza, to allow the Wowza server to be a plug and play replacement for the Helix Server. A consultant located in the Netherlands is preferred, although western Europe is also acceptable.

Our platform is currently used by multiple mobile applications as well as web applications. For the first phase of replacing Helix with Wowza, we need to maintain the API parameters used in the applications. In a later project we can begin phasing in the additional Wowza functionality.

There are two key features in Helix that need to be implemented:

  1. Redirect functionality. Currently the Helix receives a URL containing only tokens. It passes the complete URL to an auth server, which validates the user’s access. If validated, the auth server returns the track to be played. If not, an error is returned and the connection dropped.

  2. Customized logging (appear partially implemented in Wowza). Instead of logging to a file or db, the streaming data upon completion/end of the stream is sent to a logging server.

The process also requires the edge server contacting a producer server, which forwards the stream to the edge server.

The current Helix Servers currently run on Linux 64bit. We would like to complete this as soon as possible, preferably by the end of September, should that offer sufficient time for the development and testing.
