Can't view live video in VLC

Hi,

I added a stream file “Camera1.stream” to view IP camera. When I click record button, Wowza records the stream in Content folder which I can play with VLC.

But when I give URL rtsp:///live/Camera1.stream" in VLC on the same server, it says can’t open the link. I have all settings as per “How to set up live streaming using an RTSP/RTP-based encoder” tutorial. I didn’t do any settings for Publisher. I tried “How to troubleshoot RTSP/RTP playback” but no luck. The firewall is off on the server.

Are you using the good port? It’s 1935 by default.

rtsp://[wowza-ip-address]:1935/live/Camera1.stream

Hi,

That’s odd, it’s usually remote playback that has such issues, not local.

See if you are able to play back other content with VLC, such as the sample.mp4 vod file:

rtsp://[WowzaIPaddress]:1935/vod/sample.mp4

That may indicate a general RTSP playback and configuration problem.

for additional configurations.

Also be sure you have RTSP/RTP output enabled in your Wowza application settings.

What are the video/audio codecs used in your encoder?

You can troubleshoot issues like this by starting Wowza in stand alone mode [install-dir]/bin/startup.bat|startup.sh and view the output in the console.

Do you see any errors or warning messages in the output when you connect to the stream?

This sounds like there is more to this issue then would be easily addressed in the forum. Someone may need to look over your configuration setup.

Please open a ticket with the support team by zipping up your /conf and /logs folders and sending them to support@wowza.com

Please also include as much detail about your setup as possible, whether you are streaming directly from the IP camera, or if VLC is in the middle operating as a transcoder. And a link to this thread as a reference.

RTSP is enabled. The codec is H264. I tried “rtsp://[wowza-ip-address]:1935/live/Camera1.stream” but can’t see video.

I stopped Wowza services and started the batch file. Below is from log file. Is a publisher must here?

Where do you see this RTSP/RTP enabled other than Application->Live->Playback types? The encoder is H264. In stand alone mode I see text below in log file when VLC tries to connect.

Q: Is there any significance of block in Application.xml? The PlayMethod is Live.

Just now I tried viewing the stream using VLC from another computer and it works. Wondering why it is not working on the same Wowza server?
