AWS AMI Transcoder License Free Trial ?

Wowza Forum,

This is 101 so please be kind and yes I have looked over the support sections for both Wowza and AWS. If I missed the support magic link its because there are so many. (which is a good thing)

My goal is to create several renditions of HLS using a single RTMP input into the Wowza Streaming Engine. Obviously I need the Transcoder Option to do this.

I am using AWS AMI ami-9cf043f4 found here https://www.wowza.com/docs/pre-built-amis-amazon-machine-images

and for the life of me can not get the Transcoder license to work. The Wowza server license I am using is the one I got from them for the trial period.

Emailing support Wowza has yielded no tangible results and Dev Pay with AWS is not an option since it does not include the Transcoder Option. My final idea was to just buy a streaming engine license by the month but could not find anyplace within that process to purchase the transcode option.

Anyone? When is the hard part going to start?

The AMI automatically comes with a lesser license with no transcoding options.

If you’ve already gone here: https://www.wowza.com/pricing/trial and gotten a developer license, which comes with one free transcoding channel, then you have to add that license onto the server. You can do this through the engine manager, or by replacing the Server.license file in the conf folder.

Thank you. I had done that previously but missed the fact that I had to restart the server. I was also under the impression that I need a separate license for the server and for the ad on.

I am now good to go. Can not thank you enough.
