Auto scale live streaming on EC2

Hi all,

we have a wowza image up and running on a small ec2 instance which we use for live streaming. as the capacities with a small instance are pretty limited (approx. up to 300 concurrent users when streaming with 500kbs?) we now want to set up some sort of auto-scaling.

  • how do we have to configure wowza for load balancing and origin/edge setup on ec2?

  • do we have to pay licence fees for all edge servers or just for the origin?

  • what server level on ec2 fits our need to provide a 780kbs stream for up to 1000 concurrent connections?

thanks in advance for your answers,

chris
