Alternative player, e.g. winamp

Hi,

I have written a module to use along with the Shoutcast relay configuration to have a configurable shoutcast server (configurable on the backend, overriding the play method), this is working well.

I now want to be able to use any player, as with a normal shoutcast stream, e.g. winamp. What URL do I need to use to access the stream from winamp?

Thanks,

Colin.

At this time we only support playback through the Flash player client. We are considering support for other players in the future.

Charlie

At this point we only support the Flash player client for playback of all media types. We do support lots of different media encoders on the input side through RTSP/RTP, MPEG-TS, SHOUTcast and Icecast. On the playback side it is only the Flash player client. We are actively working on other output formats. Stay tuned.

No, Wowza Pro cannot stream to a WinAmp player.

Charlie

No, Wowza Server 2.x and Wowza Server 3 will not support streaming to Winamp using SHOUTcast or Icecast protocol.

It doesn’t work for me. I downloaded latest version of Winamp and tried rtsp and http playlist.m3u8 (Cupertino) URLs. The playlist.m3u8 stream seems like it is going to work, but nothing plays. I tried Smooth and Sanjose URLs too, same.

Is this still the case Charlie? We are looking to connect to our Wowza stream from a Winamp like client. Is this now possible? If so how.

Is that the case for all media types, or can I use other players for video content?

Charlie, is this option available today? (2011)
